Does anybody in the Sabres organization watch the playoffs? The Sabres are constructed wrong. There is no way the team can compete physically with the playoff teams like Florida, Rangers, Stars, etc. They are way too soft and lack toughness. They will get blown out! None of the prospects they are pinning their hopes on have the necessary profile to win in the playoffs. Rosen, Savoie, Kulich, Ostlund, and others are skilled players, but none of them can win all those battles along the boards. Who do they have who can win the physical battles that dominate the playoffs? It seems like their goal is to just barely make the playoffs. They need substantial upgrades in the roster if they ever expect to compete in the playoffs and win the Stanley Cup!

Many wanted Seth to be the next coach, well they will get it in 2yrs, maybe one. The sabres wanted someone with solid NHL coaching experience, insert Lindy Ruff, played and coached with the Sabres and with that Buffalo is a special place to him. Lindy is 64 and probably this is his last coaching job, if things go according to plan, Lindy retires after 2 yrs and Seth takes over. If this is the case then KA is right by saying Lindy is the right coach, right now for the Sabres. I personally have no problem with that. Go Sabres!

Do not like to play the "year card" but this is 2024. Is it not possible to have quality audio yet? It is bad enough at the podium but how about we actually get to hear the questions for once.

It would have been nice to see Kulich and Rosen score in the playoffs. I'm not sure the Sabres can absorb 2 more rookies next year maybe one. It's time to move on from one of those two and package a trade for some veteran playoff players that know what it takes to win ie. grit

Why doesn’t the NHL remove teams that have been in the basement for over a decade? I mean what the hell do the Sabres and blue jackets contribute to the league besides losing lmfao

At first I supported LGBTQ but now that I look at it it is EVERYWHERE like in hockey like give us a break you don’t see straight or Christian flags everywhere you go! So why should we see LGBTQ flags everywhere!

That’s great Buffalo concentrate on new uniforms. How about concentrating on putting a winning team out there? There’s something new and refreshing.

So stupid not to let Lindy hire his own staff. He said he wanted to put together the best assistant coaching staff in the NHL. You’re telling me he just so happened to think that the 2 coaches already under contract here were the best available candidates? Guys he didn’t even know until a few weeks ago. And that the only outside voice he wanted to add was Seth Appert (who he said he didn’t even know existed until a few weeks ago)? Then to add insult to injury, Appert gets to bring in an assistant coach (his video guy from Rochester), but Lindy doesn’t get to add a single coach to his staff? 🤬 Why does Buffalo always insist on doing things “their way” (aka: much differently than the best franchises)? Why not allow Ruff to hire the best staff he can, to set himself up for the best possible chance at success + to win now? Who cares about a succession plan in the NHL where there’s constant head coaching turnover. Appert wasn’t even on the radar of other NHL teams. I’ve never even heard him mentioned for an NHL assistant coaching interview let alone head coaching jobs.

I think we are on the verge of greatness! The eastern conference is weakening. Several teams will soon be going into rebuilds and we are only getting started. We are going to get PRIME Lindy Ruff. He has evolved as a coach and wanted to come back for years. We are going to get his very best. He just listed out multiple things I was whining about all of last year. Not attacking the slot, defending in front of our net, backchecking, etc. With adjustments we will become dominant. The wait with this young team will be worth it. I want a team that will dominate for years and not just be a quick flash in the pan.

Appert is literally just Granato in everything he coaches. The Amerks powerplay and playoff performance were abysmal. This team is just spinning the wheels and we better have a couple good seasons under Ruff because that's going to be our only shot at winning before Seth takes over. These promotions (not hires) make the organization look like a joke and like Ruff had little to no say in selecting his own coaching staff.

Love Lindy but all are coaching staff holdovers. Ellis I'm fine with upstairs. Hope this isn't a move to Appert as Head Coach in the future.

Not sure why Ruff was brought on to explain this hiring. It should've been Adams sitting there explaining why he thinks Appert is the coach of the future for this team and why he thinks sacrificing the chances of winning now is worth it in exchange for Appert learning on the job. Silly to have Ruff sit there and not have any better justification to hire him as the powerplay/forward coach than him having worked with some of the players in the past. Why they decided to cut down on 1 bench coach would've been interesting to hear as well, is it the cost cutting measure that we all think it is or did they think it was too many chefs in the kitchen last season? Though brining in the former head coach of some players wouldn't make sense if they wanted fewer chefs in the kitchen. Well well.

Like the in house promotion of Appert, now just need 2-3 players with some backbone and bite for the 3rd & 4th lines.

I heard a lot of excuses why this team has failed over the years and I just heard some more. I wonder if someone will ever say that the many of the current players aren't good enough to win a Stanley Cup. Recycled coaches and recycled excuses don't inspire confidence for me. Will anybody ever call out the dead weight on this roster?

Appert is a people person, and knows all the young players well. He helps offset Lindy's prickliness that will be necessary from time to time with the 20-something millionaires who haven't achieved anything. At the same time, Seth needed to be moved out of Roch. They need someone who emphasizes team defense and grit more, and installs Lindy's system. I think this is a smart move.
